Classes For Children And Adults
Wu Dang Kung Fu
Wu Dang Kung Fu is the high energy, high tempo martial art featured in
the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". The rapid series of punches,
kicks, turns, and jumps, with and without weapons, requires a high degree
of discipline and concentration. Regular practice improves timing,
coordination, balance, agility, strength, endurance, memory,
self-confidence, and the ability to manage stress.

Classes For Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a gentle flowing series of movements that are, in reality, a
safe and highly effective form of isometric exercise. Unlike many other
forms of exercise, the brain must be engaged full-time. Tai Chi is
therefore as good for the mind as it is for the body. Regular Tai Chi
practice can improve balance, strength, flexibility, coordination,
memory, well-being, the ability to concentrate, and the ability to
manage stress. Tai Chi has been helpful for people with arthritis, back
pain, weight gain, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, stress related
conditions, susceptibility to fractures, and cardiac or surgical
weakness.
Basic Movements, 10, & 24 Forms - A beginning level class that
teaches basic hand, leg, and body movements, a 10-movement
sequence, and then a 24-movement sequence. The student will learn
to use this graceful rhythmic exercise to improve physical and
emotional well-being. This class will provide an understanding of the
principles of Tai Chi and the foundation necessary to study other
forms.
48 Form - An intermediate level form that includes movements from
four major Tai Chi styles - Yang, Sun, Chen, and Wu. This form is
unique in that movements are not repeated and most are present in
both left and right-handed versions. The 48 Form is a particularly
well-balanced exercise for the whole body.
Traditional 108 Yang Long Form - An intermediate level Tai Chi
form featuring the light, gentle, circular, sweeping movements
characteristic of the Yang style. This 108-movement sequence will
provive a challenging, though thoroughly enjoyable experience for
both mind and body.
Sun Style - An intermediate level Tai Chi for characterized by a
smooth and coherent sequence of movements in advance and retreat.
It has been said that when the whole set of movements is performed, it
is like clouds drifting in the sky or water flowing down a stream.
Mulan Fan - An intermediate level Tai Chi form featuring the use of the
highly decorative Mulan Fan. Historically, Chinese women used this
seemingly harmless dress accessory as a very effective weapon for
self-defense. In this form, the graceful, gentle gathering of energy (Chi)
is intermittently released with a sudden dramatic snap of the fan.
Tai Chi Sword - An advanced form of Tai Chi characterized by a
sequence of movements in which the slow, gentle gathering of energy
(Chi) is periodically coupled with its often-explosive release. This
beautiful sequence of movements requires a high level of physical
conditioning and technical skill.
Chen Style - An advanced form of Tai Chi characterized by a
sequence of movements in which the slow, gentle gathering of energy
(Chi) is periodically coupled with its often-explosive release. This
beautiful sequence requires a high level of physical conditioning and
technical skill.
