Grandmaster Aiping and her students bring home the GOLD Mohegan Sun Resort National Karate Championship On October 29th, 2006 students from the Academy once again competed in the open martial arts tournament receiving better than 12 first place trophies, more than 9 second place trophies and numerous third and fourth place trophies. Congratulations to all the competitors. Our Own Shirley Chock is the US National Women's Grand Champion and the Women's International all Around Champion for 2006 US National Chinese Martial Arts Championships 2006 Held August 18th - 20th, 2006 US National Chinese Martial Arts Championships 2006 is an 3 day event that offers US National Ranking and Open/International competition divisions in forms and application events for all styles of traditional and contemporary Chinese Martial Arts. http://www.uswushuunion.com/ to achieve this honor Shirley received highest cumulative score in all events. Shirley competed in 24 Form, 42 Form, Internal Short Weapons and Other Tai Chi Styles. Congratulations also go to Bob Shannon who won first place in Internal Short Weapons, second place in Chen Style and second place in Tai Chi Style (not 42) Mohegan Sun Resort National Karate Championship October 22nd, 2005 The members of the Wu Dang Wu Shu Team and students of Grandmaster Aiping and Master Jack made a tremendous impression on the judges and other competitors at Mohegan Sun National Karate Championship taking a total of 13 first place wins, 5 second place wins, 4 third place wins and 2 fourth place wins. This tournament was host to over 2000 contestants from many different styles of Martial Arts. Congratulations to all the competitors! Who received a cumulative 12 First Place Trophies, 4 Second Place Trophies 2 Third Place Trophies The members of the team gave an impressive Wu Shu demonstration at the close of the competition Shirley does it Again On July 2nd and 3rd our own Shirley Chock competed in "A Taste Of China" Tournament held in Winchester Virginia It is the 14th year for this competition that brings competitors from all over the country. Shirley won gold in 24 form, tai chi sword On May 14th and 15th Grandmaster Aiping and members of the Wu Dang Wu Shu Team, Tai Chi students and Tai Chi instructors participated in the 2005 International Chinese Martial Arts Tournament Congratulations to Shirley Chock who was presented with a $500.00 check as the Grand Champion Shirley received the highest points in the individual advanced division competing in 24 Form and 42 Tai Chi Sword. Grandmaster Aiping's students were winners in every division Anette Sartor competed in Chen Style and 42 Tai Chi Sword winning top honors in both categories. Cheryl Morgan was a medal winner in 24 Form for women's individual division. In the individual Tai Chi mens events Mike LaPointe competed with Yang Style, Bob Gaulin competed in 24 Form, Jonas Karosas competed in 48 Form and Bob Shannon competed in both Chen Style and Chen Sword all were medal winners. All of these competitors used their talents to perform Sun Style Tia Chi and received the gold medal for a group. The Wu Dang Wu Shu Team was amazing winning gold, silver and bronze in almost every event Teake, team captain, received gold medals in Traditional Weapons, Traditional Form and Team Fighting Debbie Chen received gold medals for Tradition Weapons and Team Fighting Hannah Sporbert received gold medals for Contemporary Form and Team Fighting QingXian Comins-Sporbert received gold medals for Contemporary Long Fist and Traditional Weapons and silver medal for Team Fighting Linda Huang received gold medal in Contemporary Long Fist and silver in Team Fighting Phoebe French received gold medal in Contemporary Long Fist and silver in Team Fighting Mikhail King won gold in Contemporary Forms Hawkins French won silver in Contemporary Forms Patrick Rabino won bronze in Contemporary Forms mens division The weekend included competition, training seminars and special guest performances by international martial arts film stars, Grandmaster Yu Chenghui, Ji Chunhua, Zhoa Changjun, film director Chang Hsin Yen(Zhang Xinyan) and our own Grandmaster Aiping and Master Jack. May 20th and 21th, 2005 the New England Open National Karate Championships was held in Marlborough Ma. Congratulations to Melanie French, member of The Wu Shu Team, winning silver in open and traditional forms competition On June 5th 2005 the Connecticut Open Karate Championship was held in Shelton Ct. presented by the Ziwak Tae Kwon Duo School of Hamden Ct.
