Tai Chi Posture Challenge: Keeping Head and Spine Still

7/23/2021

Let’s test your Tai Chi posture and alignment. Follow Shifu Shirley in a series of different Tai Chi movements while balancing an object on your head. Can you keep your head and spine still and maintain your Tai Chi vertical pole while practicing Tai Chi? Balance an object on your head while we practice Cloud Hands, Parting the Wild Horse’s Mane, Repulsing the Monkey, Brush Knee and Press, Golden Rooster Standing on One Leg, Heel Kicks, and Double Punch to Opponent’s Ears.

Learn the correct alignment of the bai hui point on your head and the hui yin point on your perineum and the correct alignment of your shoulders and hips to help you maintain your posture. When you learn proper posture and alignment, not only will your Tai Chi be better but you will also alleviate everyday pain from habitual misalignment.
